Is it always too hot inside your home during the day? If you want to have a cooler atmosphere inside your house without the air conditioning turned on the whole day, you should get electric window fans.
Window fans can be very useful for people who want to have an energy efficient home because fans can replace air conditioning and do not use up as much power. Getting a twin window fan for your home will not only keep your house cool during the day but will eliminate turning on your air conditioning system at night as well.
However, if you live in an area where the air is polluted, getting electric window fans is not advisable. Dual window fans or bathroom window fans are also not advisable for windows that do not have screens because small animals or insects can enter through any opening. You also want to make sure window valences and curtains aren’t in the way.
Getting an exhaust window fan is advisable for apartments that do not have a ventilation system that will get rid of the smoke when cooking. A window mount fan is also another alternative. Before you buy a window fan for your home, you should decide first on where it will be placed. Fumes and bad other may enter the house if you place your fan near a parking area or an area where the garbage is disposed. You should place your electric window fans in the cooler areas of the house. A shaded part of the house where there are many trees is the best place to install your window fans. Placing your fan here will cool the house quicker. Placing them in a second story window is advisable as well. Warm air rises so if you cool this air, your home will feel fresher than ever.
Having window fans installed in your home have its disadvantages too. If you put one in your home office, it will be blowing loose papers to different directions. Either you place your window fans someplace else or secure all loose papers first before you turn them on.
Take care not to use your window fans for long hours during the day. Even if they are machines, they need to rest their motor as well. When it is rainy outside, do not turn the fans on. This will cause water damage to your fan and it will eventually break down because of it. If your window fan is emitting a burning smell, you should turn it off and get it fixed. Leaving your fan in such a state can pose as a fire hazard.
