How to Choose the Right LCD Brackets for Your TV

Since flat-panel televisions are so thin, housing them is very easy. Most people mount their TV sets on the wall with LCD brackets. If you want to get the best out of your new television set, you need to buy a bracket that will ensure comfortable viewing. Your first step is to determine where, exactly, you want to mount your TV. Do you want to mount it on the wall like most other people or do you want to set it on a stand? Alternatively, do you want to hang from the ceiling?

Many LCD wall brackets are adjustable and can be tilted at a certain angle. You will be able to view the screen from anywhere in the room. Even if you place the TV in the corner, you will still be able to watch it if you adjust it correctly. Some can only be tilted to the side, and others can be tilted up and down. The cheaper option is a regular, static (fixed) LCD mounting bracket. This is not adjustable, and is a good idea only if you plan to hand the TV on the opposite wall at eye level.

Once you have determined where you will mount the television, you can begin shopping for an LCD bracket. Some are designed for a specific model, so if you have a Samsung TV, you need to find a bracket that is compatible with Samsung. Check and see if the store you bought the television from also sells wall mounts or stands made from the same manufacturer. You can also look online to see if you can find any good deals.

Another important factor is the studs. Despite being so thin, these screens are still rather heavy. Thus, you need to make sure you have enough studs on the wall or ceiling to hold both the LCD TV bracket and the screen itself. Usually, studs with 16” spacing are suitable enough. If you need help with installation, you can order hardware kits.

Look through the owner’s manual for your TV to find out what types of brackets it is compatible with. You should see the word “VESA” (Video Electronics Standards Association) followed by a number. This number explains how far apart the holes need to be for installation. For example, VESA 100 means that there are four holes forming a square, and that each side of the square is 100mm long. Thus, you will need to order an LCD TV wall mount bracket that matches those specifications.
