The phrase “kitchen cabinet hardware” refers to more than hinges and handles. The term kitchen cabinets hardware happens to include the one item with a “gender,”–the Lazy Susan.
The original Lazy Susan was a rotating tray, one that allowed all the guests at a table to access all of the items on that tray. Carpentry and hardware experts have used the basic design of that rotating piece within the structure of the kitchen cabinet. A series of adaptations to the original design has provided homeowners with a wide selection of different systems.
Each of those systems has a metal swivel piece, one that contains a set of ball bearings. The larger the size of the tray, the greater the number of ball bearings in the associated swivel and support piece. For an extra large Lazy Susan, one can use a heavy-duty swivel, such as might be used on a bar stool or a turn-style chair.
Hardware for kitchen cabinets does not have to add to the amount of noise in the food preparation area. By placing bearings inside of ABS plastic housing, the group installing a set of rotating units can insure the quiet operation of those units, as they turn within their lovely cabinet housing.
There are two basic types of easy to access corner shelf sets. One has a pie cut shape and attaches to the cabinet door. Some cabinetry stores also offer a 2 Shelf Lazy Susan, or a similar item called a “Rev-a-Shelf.” Here each shelf has the shape of a half moon. This system uses pivoting and sliding hardware, so that each shelf can slide out of the cabinet. Durable wood allows the half moon structures to hold large and heavy items.
Therefore, a discussion of kitchen cabinet hardware does not neglect to look at the needs of the cook. In fact, those needs should direct the direction of any such discussion.
