Coolest Looking Garages!

Garages are an undervalued part of the home. Garages keep necessary tools and equipment safely stored. A garage may be used as a work space for a hobby or professional work. Decide what you will use the space for, and then you can design the space around the use. Most garage plans will include a storage solution for things like tools and equipment.

This is critical. If you can’t find a tool in an efficient manner, you will get frustrated and take more time than necessary to complete a project. Therefore, tool and equipment organization is essential. If you are remodeling a garage, don’t be afraid to add or remove a wall. Consult a professional if you do not know what you are doing before doing this.

A structural wall will need to be supported with a column and beam. Nevertheless, removing a wall can make a small garage more useful by opening up the space. A wheeled work bench is a great way to keep the floor plan open for larger projects. Although it may be necessary, a built in work bench limits the floor space. Consider adding electrical outlets and a sink for cleaning tools or greasy hands.

An industrial use sink is the best way to keep dirt in the garage and out of the house. Consider insulating the garage. Older homes with attached garages often times are not insulated. This can save money on heating the house and make the winter time project more enjoyable.

Prefabricated garages are a good way to go if you have the land. These types of garages can be insulated or not depending on your geographic location. Metal prefabricated garages usually come with a thirty year warranty and are well made structures. These structures can be built with an aggregate floor or with a poured concrete pad. Depending on your use, a stone floor is less expensive and it may be all you need.

The manufacturer will usually take a picture of you in front of the building for warranty purposes. These warranties are usually not transferrable. Portable garages are made from steel or aluminum poles with a tent fabric covering. This type of garage has limited use. Wind and ultra violet light from the sun are the two big drawbacks. Wind can tear the tent material. The sun’s rays can degrade the tent fabric and cause it to become brittle and faded. In time, the sun’s rays will destroy the fabric covering.
