Rubber matting is a good idea to look into if you have children. For inside the house, you do not need to get the matting as thick as you would for outside. Getting plain colored thin rubber tiles are quite affordable; it is often easier to work with interlocking tiles if you need something for indoor use than it is to work with a roll of rubber mat flooring. Most of these tiles should not need an adhesive to make them stick to the floor, you simply put them down and they stay in place.
