Bathroom Sinks – Finding The Perfect Model

When it comes to remodeling your bathroom, not only is it tough to design a perfectly balanced design there are the also myriad of choices for fixtures such as bathroom sinks. They come in so many shapes, sizes, materials, colors, and mounts that you almost have to have a professional designer help you pick one that will look great and be functional and long lasting. The newest and most popular bathroom sink is the Vessel sink – it sits on a platform and looks like a large bowl. These add an attractive warmth and distinction to just about any home.

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of sinks to choose from today, and doing this research can be a fun but daunting task. If you are spending anywhere from ten to say thirty thousand dollars on a bathroom remodel, then by all means hire an interior designer to help you through this process.

The cost is minimal compared to the nightmare of having an expensive and ugly new bathroom. You can narrow your sink selection down quickly by figuring out what type of mounting will be needed, will the sink be mounted in a vanity cabinet, or will you be using a pedestal design?

The materials selection process will be narrowed down by budget and value if money is tight for this project. Sinks come in enameled covered steel, glass, stainless steel, copper, brushed aluminum, and even plastic. Enameled covered steel is one of the best bargains for the buck, and will out last just about any other bathroom sink. They cost less than designer sinks, but will not give you that lavish look and feel you may be looking for in your new bathroom. The faucet is also an option on several designs, especially with vessel sinks. They usually come out of the wall apart from the sink, and look very appealing.

Make sure when making your selection that you consider what your current plumbing situation is, and if you will need to have a plumber come in and reroute the pipes to fit your purchase. If you are installing a double sink vanity, and you previously only had one sink, the cost may be minimal to have the lines run, as long as they are not required to be installed behind sheet-rock. Also, make sure whatever installation process you should choose is up to city and state codes, or you could be doing another remodel job immediately.
